Elite Studio Design, Utrecht, the Netherlands, runs translatelayer.com and is responsible for the personal data described here.
What we collect
- Account and orders: your name, email address, billing address and order history. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we do not see or store card details.
- Trials and licenses: the email address you confirm, the address of each site that uses TranslateLayer, a random installation ID, your WordPress, PHP and plugin versions, and a fingerprint of the plugin files used to detect modified copies.
- Security: IP addresses of requests to the license server, stored only as one-way hashes to limit abuse.
- Automatic translation: the text you ask us to translate is sent to DeepL SE in Germany, which translates it for us as a processor. We count the characters; we do not keep the text.
Why we use it
To deliver and support your license, to keep the trial and license system fair, to send emails you need (verification codes, order and renewal emails) and to meet tax and accounting rules. The legal bases are the contract with you, our legitimate interest in preventing abuse, and legal obligations.
What TranslateLayer does not collect
The plugin never sends us anything about your visitors or the content of your site, except the text you choose to translate automatically.
How long we keep it
Order and invoice data: 7 years, as Dutch tax law requires. License and site data: while the license exists and 2 years after it ends. Trial data: 2 years.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by writing to support@translatelayer.com. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
